Charging cables and stations
The Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback 55 quattro uses a Type 2 (Mennekes) cable and supports three-phase charging up to 11 kW. You can use cables with a capacity of either 11 kW or 22 kW. While a 22 kW cable won’t increase the charging speed, it is fully compatible.
Possible charging station options:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A) – charges up to 3.7 kW
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A) – also up to 3.7 kW
– 11 kW (3 phases, 16A) – fully compatible
– 22 kW (3 phases, 32A) – charges up to 11 kW
Compatibility with the electrical panel
The optimal charging setup depends on the type of electrical supply at home. If you only have a single-phase supply, you’ll be limited to a maximum of 3.7 kW. With a three-phase supply (3x16A or higher), you can use the full 11 kW capacity. Even if you don’t yet have a three-phase connection, you can install a suitable charging station and temporarily operate it in single-phase mode.
Mobile Charging Device
Mobile chargers (or portable charging units) allow charging through a standard household socket. For the Audi Q8 e-tron Sportback 55 quattro, a Type 2 mobile cable is required. Due to the high battery capacity (106 kWh), these chargers are better suited as a backup solution or for emergency situations, since charging times are significantly longer.
