Charging Capabilities and Time
The BMW 745e xDrive supports AC charging up to 3.7 kW maximum. Whether you choose a home wallbox station or a mobile charging device, the charging time will be similar.
| Charging Point Type | Power Supply | Max. Power | Charging Time |
| Mobile Charger (2.3 kW) | 230V / 1x10A | 2.3 kW | 5h 13m |
| Single-phase 16A (3.7 kW) | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW | 3h 15m |
| Single-phase 25A (5.8 kW)* | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW* | 3h 15m |
| Single-phase 32A (7.4 kW)* | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW* | 3h 15m |
| Three-phase 16A (11 kW)* | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW* | 3h 15m |
| Three-phase 25A (17 kW)* | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW* | 3h 15m |
| Three-phase 32A (22 kW)* | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW* | 3h 15m |
* Charging speed is limited by the vehicle.
Charging Cable
The BMW 745e xDrive features a Mennekes (Type 2) connection and can be charged with a single-phase cable up to 3.7 kW. You can also use a three-phase cable, as a heavier cable won’t negatively affect charging, though it won’t speed up the process.
Wallbox Charging Stations
The maximum charging power for the BMW 745e xDrive is 3.7 kW. Charging stations with higher power won’t charge the vehicle faster but won’t harm it either. If you have a three-phase electrical panel, it’s recommended to choose an 11 kW charging station to be prepared for a future vehicle with higher charging capacity.
Mobile Charging Device
A portable EV charger allows charging the vehicle through a regular home outlet. The BMW 745e xDrive can fully utilize a 2.3 kW or 3.7 kW portable charger. It’s important to be mindful of power consumption on the same electrical circuit, as 16A is significant power for a standard home installation.
