Charging Cable for BMW I7 xDrive60
The BMW i7 xDrive60 features a Type 2 (Mennekes) port and supports three-phase charging up to 11 kW. We recommend using a three-phase cable rated at 11 or 22 kW.
Fixed Charging Station (EV Charger)
The maximum charging power of the BMW i7 xDrive60 is 11 kW. Using a higher-powered charger (e.g., 22 kW) won’t increase charging speed but won’t cause any harm. Options:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A)
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A – charges up to 3.7 kW)
– 11 kW (3 phases, 16A)
– 22 kW (3 phases, 32A – charges up to 11 kW)
Electrical Panel and Connection
To achieve the maximum charging speed of 11 kW, a three-phase installation with minimum 3x16A is required. If you currently have a single-phase installation, charging will be limited to 3.7 kW. In such cases, it’s advisable to use an EV Charger with dynamic or manual load balancing to protect your home’s electrical system.
Portable Charging Station
Mobile charging stations allow charging through a standard household outlet. The BMW i7 xDrive60 requires a Type 2 mobile charger. Due to the large battery capacity, these charging devices are mainly suitable as a backup option or for emergency use.
