Charging Cable for BMW iX xDrive 50
The BMW iX xDrive 50 uses a Type 2 (Mennekes) connector and charges at a maximum of 11 kW. This requires using a three-phase cable rated at 11 or 22 kW.
Fixed Charging Station (EV Charger)
The vehicle charges at a maximum of 11 kW. Using a more powerful charger, such as 22 kW, is completely safe but won’t speed up charging. Suitable options include:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A)
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A – charges up to 3.7 kW)
– 11 kW (3 phases, 16A)
– 22 kW (3 phases, 32A – charges up to 11 kW)
Electrical Panel and Connection
The maximum power of 11 kW can only be achieved with a three-phase electrical installation (minimum 3x16A). If you don’t have one yet, you can temporarily connect the charger to 1 phase, but charging will be limited to 3.7 kW.
Portable Charging Station
Mobile charging stations are a practical solution for home charging using a standard outlet (220V). The BMW iX xDrive 50 can charge at 2.3 – 3.7 kW. Although the speed is lower, this solution is useful as a backup option or in emergency situations.
