Charging Stations for Hyundai Kona
Hyundai Kona EVs can be charged via a charging station (wallbox) or a mobile charger. It is important to know that if the station provides higher power than the car’s maximum, the car will still only charge up to its limit – without any risk of damage.
Available charging station power levels:
- 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A)
- 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A)
- 11 kW (3 phases, 16A)
- 22 kW (3 phases, 32A)
Choosing a Wallbox: Cable or Socket
You can choose a station with a fixed cable, which is convenient for everyday charging. If more than one car will use it, a socket station (without a fixed cable) offers more flexibility – everyone can use their own cable.
Connection to Electrical Panel
The choice of charging station should match your electrical panel:
- With a single-phase panel, the maximum is usually up to 4 kW
- With a three-phase panel – up to 22 kW
An 11 kW three-phase station is recommended if you have such a connection – it ensures compatibility with most future EVs.
Mobile Charging Stations for Hyundai Kona
Mobile charging stations (portable EV chargers) allow charging from a standard socket (220V). Suitable power levels: 2.3 kW (10A) and 3.7 kW (16A). Keep in mind the total consumption on the same circuit – a 16A current is relatively high and may overload the installation if other powerful appliances are used simultaneously.
