Charging Cables for Volkswagen e-Crafter
The Volkswagen e-Crafter uses a Mennekes Type 2 connector and has a single-phase AC charging power of 7.2 kW. This means that at least a 7.4 kW charging cable is required. Lighter cables (e.g., 3.7 kW) are not suitable. Three-phase cables are also compatible but don’t increase the actual charging speed.
Wallbox Stations for Volkswagen e-Crafter
The maximum AC charging power for the e-Crafter is 7.2 kW. This means that wallbox stations with higher power won’t speed up charging but won’t harm the system either. You can choose a wallbox based on your home or business electrical installation capabilities. Devices with manual or dynamic load balancing are recommended if you use single-phase power.
Suitable wallbox charging station options:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase / 16A): Charging up to 3.7 kW
– 7.4 kW (1 phase / 32A): Charging up to 7.2 kW
– 11 kW (3 phase / 16A): Charging up to 3.7 kW

Mobile Charging Stations
The Volkswagen e-Crafter can be charged using a mobile charging station connected to a standard outlet. These stations typically support up to 2.3 or 3.7 kW, which is significantly slower for a 36 kWh battery. Therefore, we recommend using mobile charging only as a backup or emergency option.
