Charging Capabilities and Time
Volkswagen ID.4 Pro can be charged with a maximum of 11 kW on alternating current (AC). Below are the approximate charging times depending on the power of the charging station:
| Charger Type | Voltage / Amperage | Power | Charging Time |
| Mobile charging station (2.3 kW) | 230V / 1x10A | 2.3 kW | 39h 30min |
| 1-phase 16A | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW | 24h 30min |
| 1-phase 25A | 230V / 1x25A | 5.8 kW | 15h 45min |
| 1-phase 32A | 230V / 1x32A | 7.4 kW | 12h 15min |
| 3-phase 16A | 400V / 3x16A | 11 kW | 8h 15min |
| 3-phase 25A | 400V / 3x25A | 11 kW* | 8h 15min |
| 3-phase 32A | 400V / 3x32A | 11 kW* | 8h 15min |

Charging cables and wallbox stations
Volkswagen ID.4 Pro uses a Mennekes (Type 2) plug and supports three-phase AC charging with a maximum of 11 kW. It is recommended to use a charging cable rated for 11 or 22 kW. Charging will be limited by the vehicle to 11 kW.
Suitable wallbox stations:
– 3.7 kW (1-phase, 16A) – up to 3.7 kW
– 7.4 kW (1-phase, 32A) – up to 3.7 kW
– 11 kW (3-phase, 16A) – full compatibility
– 22 kW (3-phase, 32A) – charges up to 11 kW
Compatibility with the electrical installation
The maximum charging speed depends not only on the vehicle but also on your electrical installation. If you have three-phase power supply (at least 3x16A), you can charge at 11 kW. If you do not yet have three-phase power supply, you can use a wallbox connected in single-phase as a temporary solution.
Portable Charging Station
The mobile charging station (or portable charger) allows charging from a standard socket (220V). Volkswagen ID.4 Pro requires a mobile station with a Type 2 plug. Due to the large battery capacity (77 kWh), the mobile charger is best suited as a backup or emergency solution.
