Charging Options and Approximate Times
Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance supports 3-phase charging with a capacity of up to 11 kW. The charging options include mobile stations and wallbox devices with different power levels. Below are the types of stations and the expected charging times:
| Charging Station Type | Grid Voltage / Current | Power | Charging Time |
| Mobile charging station (2.3 kW) | 230V / 1x10A | 2.3 kW | ≈ 39 h 30 min |
| Single-phase 16A (3.7 kW) | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW | ≈ 24 ч 30 min |
| Single-phase 25A (5.8 kW) | 230V / 1x25A | 5.8 kW | ≈ 15 h 45 min |
| Single-phase 32A (7.4 kW) | 230V / 1x32A | 7.4 kW | ≈ 12 h 15 min |
| Three-phase 16A (11 kW) | 400V / 3x16A | 11 kW | ≈ 8 h 15 min |
| 3-phase 25A (17 kW)* | 400V / 3x25A | 11 kW* | ≈ 8 h 15 min |
| 3-phase 32A (22 kW)* | 400V / 3x32A | 11 kW* | ≈ 8 h 15 min |
* The maximum charging speed is limited by the vehicle’s capabilities.
Charging Cable
To charge the Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance, a Type 2 (Mennekes) cable is required. The vehicle supports 3-phase charging with a capacity of up to 11 kW. It is recommended to use an 11 kW or 22 kW cable for maximum compatibility.
Wallbox Charging Stations
The maximum charging power for this model is 11 kW. Wallbox stations with higher power are also compatible, but charging will be limited to the vehicle’s capacity. If your electrical installation does not support high power, you can also use a lower-power station.
Suitable wallbox options:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A): max. 3.7 kW
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A): max. 3.7 kW
– 11 kW (3 phase, 16A): optimal charging
– 22 kW (3 phase, 32A): charges up to 11 kW (limited by the vehicle)
Installation and connection phases
Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance supports 3-phase charging. To take full advantage of this capability, you need an electrical installation with at least 3x16A. If you only have a single-phase connection, charging will be limited to 3.7 kW, regardless of the station’s power.
Mobile wallbox station
Mobile charging stations (portable EV chargers) allow charging through a standard household socket (220V). For the Volkswagen ID.5 Pro Performance, you need to use a mobile station with a Type 2 plug. Due to the large battery capacity, these chargers are recommended as a backup option or for emergencies, since charging will be slower – up to 2.3 or 3.7 kW.
