Charging Options and Approximate Times
The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro can be charged either with a mobile charger or with a stationary wallbox station. Below are the main options and the expected time for a full charge:

Charging Cable
The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro uses a Type 2 (Mennekes) cable and supports 3-phase charging with a capacity of up to 11 kW. It is recommended to use a 3-phase cable rated at 11 or 22 kW to achieve optimal charging.
Wallbox Charging Stations
The maximum charging capacity of the ID.5 Pro is 11 kW. Therefore, the most suitable option is a wallbox station with this or higher power output. More powerful stations (for example, 22 kW) will not charge faster but are also compatible. Lower-power stations can also be used, especially when the electrical installation is more limited.
Wallbox station options:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A): max. 3.7 kW
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A): max. 3.7 kW
– 11 kW (3 phase, 16A): full compatibility
– 22 kW (3 phase, 32A): charges up to 11 kW
Installation and Power Supply
To take advantage of the maximum charging capacity of 11 kW, a 3-phase electrical installation (minimum 3x16A) is required. If you don’t have one yet, you can temporarily connect to just a single phase. In case you use only 1 phase, charging will be limited to 3.7 kW regardless of the station’s power rating.
Mobile wallbox station
The mobile wallbox station (or portable charger) is suitable for charging through a regular household socket. The Volkswagen ID.5 Pro can also be charged this way, but due to the large battery capacity, this solution is mainly suitable as a backup or for emergency use.
