Charging Capabilities and Time
Depending on the type of charging station, the charging time for the ID.7 GTX can vary significantly. Here are the main options:
| Charging Station Type | Power Supply | Power | Charging Time |
| Mobile charging station (2.3 kW) | 230V / 1x10A | 2.3 kW | 37 h 25 min |
| 1-phase 16A | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW | 23 h 15 min |
| 1-phase 25A | 230V / 1x25A | 5.8 kW | 14 h 50 min |
| 1-phase 32A | 230V / 1x32A | 7.4 kW | 11 h 40 min |
| 3-phase 16A | 400V / 3x16A | 11 kW | 7 h 50 min |
| 3-phase 25A | 400V / 3x25A | 11 kW* | 7 h 50 min |
| 3-phase 32A | 400V / 3x32A | 11 kW* | 7 h 50 min |
*Maximum charging speed is limited by the vehicle’s capabilities.
Charging Cable for Volkswagen ID.7 GTX
The vehicle has a Mennekes (Type 2) connection and supports 3-phase charging up to 11 kW. Therefore, you need to use a 3-phase cable rated for at least 11 or 22 kW. Single-phase cables are not suitable for achieving full charging capacity.
Charging Station (Wallbox) for Volkswagen ID.7 GTX
A Wallbox is recommended for faster and more efficient charging. The vehicle allows for maximum 11 kW charging. Available options:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A): charges up to 3.7 kW
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A): charges up to 3.7 kW
– 11 kW (3 phase, 16A): charges up to maximum 11 kW
– 22 kW (3 phase, 32A): charges up to maximum 11 kW
Connection to the Power Distribution Board
The choice of a suitable Wallbox depends on your electrical installation. The Volkswagen ID.7 GTX can only charge at full capacity with a 3-phase power supply of minimum 3x16A. If you currently have single-phase power, charging will be limited to 3.7 kW. You can purchase a 3-phase charging station and temporarily use it with single phase until upgrading your electrical connection.
Mobile Charging Station for Volkswagen ID.7 GTX
Mobile charging stations (portable chargers) allow charging through a standard household outlet. For the ID.7 GTX, a Type 2 mobile station is required. Due to the large battery capacity (86 kWh), we recommend using this primarily as a backup option. These devices typically have a power output between 2.3 and 3.7 kW.
