Charging Cables
The Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer Pro S / GTX uses a standard Type 2 (Mennekes) connector and supports three-phase charging up to 11 kW. For maximum compatibility, it’s recommended to use a 3-phase cable rated for 11 or 22 kW.
Wall Charging Station (Wallbox)
The maximum AC charging power through a wall charging station is 11 kW. Charging via wallbox is recommended for daily home use. The station’s power output doesn’t need to exceed the maximum allowed by the vehicle, but even higher-powered units will limit charging to 11 kW. Available wallbox options are:
– 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A)
– 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A)
– 11 kW (3 phase, 16A)
– 22 kW (3 phase, 32A – charges at max. 11 kW for this model)
Installation and Electrical Panel
The choice of an appropriate wall station depends on your electrical installation. The vehicle supports three-phase charging, which allows full utilization of the 11 kW capacity. If you don’t have a three-phase installation, you can temporarily use single-phase charging, but the charging speed will be limited to a maximum of 3.7 kW.
Mobile Charging Station (Portable Charger)
With a portable station (mobile wallbox), you can charge the vehicle directly from a household socket. This is convenient for emergency situations or when a wallbox isn’t available, but it’s not recommended for daily charging due to the limited power output (2.3-3.7 kW). Always use a charger with a Type 2 connector.
