Charging Options and Time
The Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance can be charged at different power levels depending on the type of charging station used and the selected onboard charging module. Here are approximate charging times:
| Charging Type | Voltage / Current | Max. Power | Charging Time |
| Mobile charger (2.3 kW) | 230V / 1x10A | 2.3 kW | 32 h 45 min |
| 1 phase 16A | 230V / 1x16A | 3.7 kW | 20 h 30 min |
| 1 phase 25A | 230V / 1x25A | 5.8 kW | 13 h |
| 1 phase 32A | 230V / 1x32A | 7.4 kW | 10 h 45 min |
| 3 phases 16A | 400V / 3x16A | 11 kW | 7 h |
| 3 phases 25A | 400V / 3x16A | 17 kW | 4 h 30 min |
| 3 phases 32A | 400V / 3x16A | 22 kW * | 3 h 30 min |
* Charging power depends on the selected onboard module – 11 kW standard, 22 kW optional.
Charging Cables
The Volvo EX30 Twin Motor Performance uses a Type 2 (Mennekes) connector. With the optional 22 kW onboard charging module, it’s recommended to use a three-phase Type 2 cable with a minimum capacity of 22 kW.
Wall-mounted Charging Stations (Wallbox)
To utilize the full charging power of 22 kW, a wallbox device with three-phase connection (3x32A) is required. You can also use stations with lower power, which will limit the charging speed according to the vehicle’s capabilities.
- Recommended options:
- • 3.7 kW (1 phase, 16A)
- • 7.4 kW (1 phase, 32A)
- • 11 kW (3 phases, 16A)
- • 22 kW (3 phases, 32A)
Electrical Panel Connection
The Volvo EX30 Twin Motor can charge at up to 22 kW, but only if you have a three-phase installation (at least 3x32A). If you currently only have a single-phase connection, you can temporarily use a single-phase wallbox, though charging will be limited to a maximum of 3.7 kW.
Mobile Charging Devices
Mobile charging devices are a convenient and economical option for charging at home from a standard outlet. Due to the battery capacity (64 kWh), they are recommended as a backup or emergency option.
